California Rising is a 501(c)(4) civic advocacy and education organization rooted in Central, Northeast, and Southeast Los Angeles. Founded in 2016, we exist to build the kind of community power that creates lasting change — block by block, coalition by coalition.
We co-founded the El Salvador Corridor Association and the CD1 Coalition, and built youth programs like Life Skills Sports Academy and University Little League — programs that change trajectories and invest in the next generation of community leaders.
California Rising is built on a simple belief: that communities deserve leaders who show up, systems that work, and neighborhoods they can be proud of. It is not about party affiliation — it is about accountability, civic education, and the long work of building power from the ground up.
We translate policy into plain language. Residents deserve to understand exactly how local decisions — zoning, budgets, enforcement — directly impact their neighborhoods and daily lives.
Candidate forums, public pressure, and transparency demands. We educate the community on policy alternatives and ensure elected officials are held to clear, public standards of accountability.
